OH! Darling you're a vison!

Elizabeth held a winter white party and all us girls showed up in our sparkles and "ice."
Maripat came "glammed" out, old Hollywood style, in a scarf, glasses, and gloves.
We gave each other a French bise (air kisses near the cheek)and dished out flattery over each other's attire and jewels. It was just marvelous.
AH! But Elizabeth's dinner, a spiritual experience, was absolutely gourmet. It all began with mushroom soup which Melissa dove into. Yumma Yumma.
Getting away from the white, Elizabeth made a mash of carrots and turnips (two bunches of chopped boiled carrots, one large boiled turnip, a pinch of sugar, and plenty of butter). Yes! Root vegetables are food of the Gods! It was pure bliss for our turnip virgins. I've had a turnip in pasties when I couldn't find rutabagas, but can't remember them tasting so good.
We ate red skins, salad with pignolies (pine nuts), green beans, and chicken in wine, the recipe of which came straight from the French cookbook.
Plenty of laughter filled the air along with a humble and tear filled prayer of gratitude for such priceless and beautiful friends.

Championship Trail

I haven't written much about Kadie's basketball season. Mostly because I don't want to get over excited and over confident. Write now her team is 12-1 for the season, and 7-1 in the Tri-County Conference. With it being her senior year and all there have been quite a few friends out to watch her play. Here's another shot of of a tot (Carson) who came out to cheer.

Valentine Tree

So how cute is my Valentine tree? I made the tree topper (an altered ornament), and the skirt.
I'll tell more about all the charming details in the coming days.
But aren't the antique salt & pepper shaker skunks a hoot kissing under the tree? They make me think of Pepe' le Pew and the she cat. Brings new meaning to love stinks, aye?

A Charming Find

Last weekend Melissa and I went to the Salvation Army looking for inspiration. I found this cute crocheted throw in all the right colors. It warms my heart to see the family use it. It's really cozy, and someone spent all that time crocheting those squares, weaving their love and talent into each stitch. Sweet.

Melissa and I also made some wall pockets to put the sunshine pin, and a few other trinkets in.
We hit the jackpot when it came to finding supplies on sale.

U R My Sunshine

Melissa came over and we were busy crafters conceptualizing (the hardest part) and creating gifts for the staff at school. Mel and I head up the Sunshine Commitee. Sounds pretty dorky and a lot of trouble, but it's all a front for Melissa to be creative. Anyway, we made heart shaped pins of paper painted with water colors.
We tore the paper and Mod Podged (glossy) the strips onto more white paper and put a little pin on the back. I just love these little pins! We made a wall ornament too, for one staffer who we think wouldn't wear a pin.
The card that will go with the gifts will say: Thank you for bringing sunshine into the hearts of others.
Sweet.
