My Cup Overfloweth

I'm having a great summer. Life has changed, and is getting ready to change again. But, thankfully, God has given me the heart and eyes to savor the sweet things that are making this summer so special. Without doubt life has it's aggravating dramas, and it's easy to give them center stage over and above all the sweet little things that are worthy of my energy and attention. But for now my eye is on the little details, the timing, scenery, and accoutrement's for a pleasant life. Like . . .
seeing loved ones at a reunion, going to a birthday party, eating cake with raspberry filling and chocolate ganache, ridig a horse while the sun sets and the moon rises red in the east (click on the picture to enlarge and see the moon rising over my hands), oatmeal, carrot, dried cantalope cookies, and a crocheted dish cloth bought at the farmers' market. Life is good.

TAKE COVER!

Holy Smokes! We have been praying for rain, but when the storms finally rolled in they arrived angry and violent. I've never seen hail stones that large. They pelted the earth like major league fastballs. Randy retrieved one that looked like a crystal comglomerate. We haven't discoved any major damage (Thank God!), but more then a few plants and trees were shredded. I like the picture of the white hail stones lying in the red mulch.

Going green at the Fair

After much urging by my friends I entered the recycled class at the Fair. I entered my garden door, and I won a prize! It is a really cute gold pin of the recycling symbol. I will be proud to wear it on my lab coat during science. Can you see the whisks, keys, cans, pitch fork, clothes line, tart tins, screening, serving trays, car brake part, forks, beads, wood trim, juice can bottoms, earrings, gas range burner, fan blade?

Bubble Goodness

I wasn't feeling good at the A2 Art Fair so I thought I would try some tea. A little Chinese restaurant sold Bubble Tea http://www.bubbletea.com/ . I tried the green tea mint without milk.
The tea came to me the color of dark green grass (not even absinth is as green http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe). Severed in a clear plastic cup, more then a few people took a long hard look at my beverage which had large black/green balls at the bottom. The balls reminded one of frog eggs or something fishy, inreality they were large pearls of chewy tapicoca. Yumm. The tea was a little too sweet for me. I'm sure I could request less sugar syrup. They also offered lychee bubble tea, so I'll be back to sample other flavors.

GRRRRRRR

Ugg! I need help managing my post. I've lost too much time trying to rid my page of all this white space -which I equate to dead air time. I really don't know who to ask for help because access to my blog is limited (I don't need a world audience). If you have any friends on Blogger please ask if they can help me. Thanks!

A2 Art Fair

Yesterday I went to the A2 Art Fair to see my dear friend Gwen's goods. You can see her stuff at
http://www.buffalodays.net/ .

I got Gwen away from her tent to do some shopping. We found a wood worker from Findley Ohio.

From him I bought a wine cork for Randy. It is made from an Australia banksia cone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banksia

A few years ago I bought a German carved wooden cork for Randy. It's really cute topped with a little baker or bartender. He is our Kitchen mascot. Gwen pointed out that now Randy has a "spare" when I tell him to put a cork in it:)

Sweet Little Things

It's the little details that make life sweet. Here are a few of the sweet things in my life.
This summer I bought a beautiful pendent from
http://www.thevenerable-bead.com . I am proud to say that I learned how to tie the adjustable cord. A sloth a the Dallas Aquarium fell in love with me at first sight- proving that I have animal magnetism. Isn't his smile precious? While in Dallas, I met the the Travelocity Roaming Gnome who has a page on Myspace. He is my newest Myspace friend. He didn't talk much but I did figure out to look at his base and see a record of his trips.
And finally, I painted my grandpa's patio rocker. I've owned it for 25 years and just decided to give it a coat of red paint. I have a groovy Red Rocker.

Hope your having a great weekend!

Girl's Just Gotta Have Fun!

We like to take a walk on the public beach in Manistee and ask a complete stranger to take our group picture. This year we stopped a couple and each of them took a camera. He was really tall and she was short like me. They were laughing at our antics and happily snapped away. The funny part for us was when Melissa said she would take their picture. She was giving all these crazy commands, "Now look into each others' eyes. Put your arms out!" These poor people were completely sucked into our energy and did what Melissa said. It was damn funny.

I like to imagine that the couple are passing the craziness on. If you follow/accept the six degrees of separation idea it won't be long before George Bush and the Pope are out there arms stretched laughing at the themselves and the the world.

Also, I'm just putting this out there to think about . . . When was the last time you told a telemarketer that you love them? They have feelings too.

Kimmy's 2007

I spent three and a half days laughing my butt off. I mean the breathless painful laughing where you beg others to stop this "laughing madness" or you will pass out, and/or wet your pants.

This is the second year I have gone with a few of my dearest girl friends (Melissa, Lizbeth, and Tina) to Kimmy's. Kimmy has this glorious cabin on Lake Michigan and we go for a few days to love life and live it to the fullest.

Kim has Direct TV and we saw a poignant movie, "Ten Items or Less." Afterwards, we spent time constructing and sharing lists of our favorite things, funniest moment on the trip, things we hate, etc.

We had shirts made to celebrate our escape. We wore them two days in a row and they brought us great luck. Honestly, it was an enchanted trip. If I began to record each remarkable experience it would turn into a novel.

If you ladies are reading this . . . THANK YOU! GOD I LOVE YOU WOMEN! heeheheeehehhehHAHA etc. etc. . . . *phew*

Local Treasures

Yesterday I went to the local farmers' market and bought fresh bread. This was artisan bread for sure! It's not just the name of the company that suggests "art" although "Groovy Grains" is a good clue. No! This bread was art because the artist freshly ground her Certified Chemical Free Prairie Gold Montana Wheat just before baking. I asked how this could be done. Did she have a big stone and windmill in her backyard? NO! She has an electric mill.

I purchased "Emma's Oatmeal Bread" which was made with filtered water and Raw Unfiltered Michigan Honey.

About the bread. Well, having freshly ground wheat does make a difference. If you have discriminating taste you will know. It is the difference between Maxwell house and freshly ground beans from Panama (just had this and it was a heavenly treat-you could taste tropical flowers I'm not kidding!), a hot house tomato and a warm fresh tomato off the vine, frozen fruit and fresh fruit, soy soap and Dove (yes the soy is better, there's a lady at farmers' market who makes soy soap that makes my body and soul happy), canned corn and fresh corn on the cob (locally grown of course).

I know my friends and family think I live in isolation free from all the finer pleasures of life, but they would be wrong. I do get out, and my small little community does offer some remarkable treasures, kindred spirits and amazing bread.

Feng Sh ** away

We had a yard sale so I could get rid of all the junk laying around. The stuff was just filling the house with a bad energy.

The house is a major source of stress in my life in that it is small, cluttered, and poorly decorated. We sold a few things, but most of it is sitting in the garage waiting to go to the curb or Goodwill.

The sale gave me a chance to show off the garden. That was nice. I received a lot of compliments on the flower arrangements and the overall charm. One woman said our house looked liked a little storybook house. All that even thought there was a lot of algae growing on the fountain. Everyone was in agreement that the bike rim trellis, I made this year, is cool. More then a few men liked it too.

Yard sales are hard work. It's a good event to force yourself to participate in because you wonder, "How did I get all this crap?" Also, having a sale causes me to pause and give better condideration to my purchases. I do need things to function smoothly. But I know from experience that all goes well with items of better quality and smaller quantities.

I have found some new ice cream, "Cupcake" by Spartan. Yellow cake ice cream, chocolate frosting, and cake pieces. Oh so good! One of the many things that have made this summer sweet and fun.

Testing the www waters

I'm not sure I feel committed to learning all the skills needed to create a "stunning" blog, I'll leave that to those who really need to be stunning. Still, if any of you experienced bloggers want to offer a tip on groovy ways to embellish a blog I'm a pretty good learner- when I'm listening. Also, I will be humbly grateful and will wish you a blessing in thanks. In case the word blessing sounds creeeepy relax your fears! It will be more like me saying, "Thank you!" to you, and then in my heart I will say, "What a kind gesture! I hope something great happens to that person today."
:) I'll be waiting.

OH GOD! NOW I'VE DONE IT!

Well, I've finally created a blog. The motivating factor was to provide friends and family with an easy way to keep track of my actions. I'm sure everyone is very curious about what I do. I think (and this is my egotistic side thinking) that sometimes I am interesting. I might provide the world with a thing or two worth a second of attention.
